If Intonen would be described with one word, it would be versatile. He rightfully saw action in power play, penalty kill and even during the overtime when TPS lost to Blues 3-2. The loss unfortunately also meant that TPS U20 did not make it to the playoffs. Intonen played for over 20 minutes, got five shots and he had one really good scoring chance during the game.

Intonen to me looks like a solid skater with pretty good individual skill. He managed to keep the puck in tight spaces, gave solid passes thorough the game and showed pretty good hockey IQ distributing the puck efficiently at the offensive zone. His work ethic was excellent, he did a good job in forecheck and his defensive zone positioning as well as defensive awareness were in a good level.

He is a solid forward overall. Relatively small size and lack of involvement in a physical game are his biggest issues, but with his skill set and versatility there’s a lot to like in his game.

  • 2019-01-11 at HPK - TPS, U20 by Antti Wennström

Intonen played 19:28 on the TPS U20 first line against HPK. He had three shot on goal and no goals as TPS lost 0-2. The overall performance was a bit disappointing. When involved with the puck, he was making some smart small moves and passes on the rush and on the neutral zone rush.

However, there were many shifts Intonen seemed to wander outside the action. His positioning was decent and showed he has defensive awareness, but with his skill one could wish for a bit more involvement on the crease, board plays, creating plays and finding the place to score. His skating should improve. That, along with a bit more aggressiveness on participating the play would improve his play. Having scored 26 points in 34 games he does have tools to build on.

  • 2018-10-26 at JYP - TPS, U20 by Lassi Alanen

Intonen scored a goal and had an overall good game playing as a left winger in TPS’s first line. The Finn has had a strong start to his season, as he has already racked up eight goals and 15 points in 19 games. Intonen is a small forward with good skill and hockey sense. His skating lacks explosiveness, but that could change with added muscle mass. Intonen showcased good hand-eye coordination on the goal he scored, deflecting a wrist shot from the point. His two-way play was also rather good and he was used regularly on the penalty kill.
