Paaso was impressive at the U16 Four Nations, despite the fact that he only played on the fourth defensive pairing. The intelligent Kärpät defenseman had good confidence with the puck and a high panic threshold. He could have moved the puck a tad quicker at times, but overall his passing was solid.

Paaso was also smart defensively and competed hard to keep opponents away from high-scoring areas. He made one particularly strong, textbook defensive play in a 2 on 1 attack, where he took away the pass across and prevented a dangerous scoring chance. He’s not the biggest of defensemen, but he has good mobility and awareness.
