Niemi had somewhat limited role even though he was the first line winger. He also played in front of the net during the power play but he seemed to struggle to really get it going. However he improved as the game progressed and when he started to get more ice time also in 5-on-5 game.
The young forward played pretty straight forward game. He isn’t the kind of player who would do something amazing from shift to shift, but he has above average stickhandling skills and I liked his willingness to go to the dirty areas. He also showed capability to play quick passing play under pressure. However I thought his checking and defensive game were pretty ineffective at the moment, something he needs to work with in the future.
Despite being one of the youngest players on ice, he seemed to be physically mature for a player of his age. Physically he is ready for this level of play and his skating looked pretty strong already.
