Mattila was the best Ilves player in the team’s second game against Kiekko-Vantaa on Friday. A 5’10 center with above-average technical skills, he had a soft touch with the puck and created offense through patient, intelligent plays. His straight-line speed was impressive, allowing to gain the offensive zone quickly. His speed was also a factor on the back check when getting back defensively. The effort was certainly there without the puck, too. A prospect worth keeping an eye on in the U16 league.
