- 2018-02-14 at Finland - Russia, U18 Five nations by Asko Huuki
Huhtamaa made a solid performance against Russia despite allowing three goals in 0-4 loss (the fourth goal was empty netter). He made 26 saves including couple of top quality stops.
Huhtamaa is a pretty big and calm goalie whose main focus is to cover as much from the net as possible. His pretty good size is not his only asset however. He also seems to possess pretty good blocker and very quick glove. However I think he could improve his movement and his legs could be quicker. He also lost the track of the puck couple of times.
On the positive side his rebound control seemed solid and his overall positioning looked good and cuts the angles effectively. The goalie often joins the game with his stick and despite not being absolutely elite with puck handling, he is clearly above average in that area compared to most Finnish goalie prospects. All in all, he seems to have many intriguing qualities you would like to see in a young goalie.
