Despite the loss, goalie played really good game against Tappara. He allowed two goals but got 36 saves. During the first goal he went bit too far away from the goal and the second goal went through the five-hole. However he made couple of really good saves. He looked extremely calm and confident when he made solid pad save from the breakaway.

While Nurmi is not as huge as many goalies these days are, he has decent size. He is active on goal, cuts the angles well and he is fluid with his movement. Especially his movement from side to side looked pretty impressive. However when he drops into butterfly, he gives bit too much space at the top of the net. He has very quick legs however and because he tracks the puck really well, it is extremely beat him down low.

While his glove and blocker aren’t bad, I don’t think those are as good part of his game as his legs are. Also while he played with his stick couple of times, it was noticeable that his stickhandling wasn’t on the level you would expect from the modern goaltender. He also gave surprisingly many rebounds but he kept the track of them really well and thanks to his good movement, those were rarely dangerous. Nurmi also seems to have quick reflexes. While goalie obviously needs a lot of refining, his good movement, quick reflexes, active style of play, good positioning, quick legs and decent size are assets that makes his progress worthy of monitoring.
