Unfortunately, Luoto didn’t have his best game against Kiekko-Vantaa. He wasn’t able to contribute pretty much anything offensively, and he was surprisingly shaky at the own end.

Luoto is a solid skater showing good agility and nice movement overall. I think he wasn’t able to use that asset properly, especially at the own end. His defensive game is still work in progress. His positioning was off and being still very lightweight, he was not particularly strong in one-on-ones either. He did not cut the passes with his stick either.

The youngster shows some promise in offensive side, but he hasn’t been able to put it all together yet. He could improve his decision-making as he often tries too fancy plays. Sometimes the simple, easy pass would be better option than long passes or carrying the puck. That being said, he did show some good puck-handling abilities. He is pretty good in stick-handling and the passing play has some potential.

Luoto was the number one defenseman for Jokerit in this game. He was sharp with the puck under pressure, keeping his head up before moving the puck forward. Puck handling ability was above-average and he played in a calm manner. He was a mobile, balanced skater and played a sound defensive game.
