The Espoo United defenseman impressed with his ability to consistently bring offense which resulted in points as well. He was highly smart, confident and calculated in possession on the power play, moving the puck with precision. He had a cannon for a shot, firing both heavy slap shots and wristers that caused plenty of trouble for goalies. Had good mobility, pivots and backwards skating. Additionally, he was physically solid and competitive defensively.

Overall, Von Gerdten displayed interesting two-way potential. The fact that he played at the U16 level already last season showed in his game here.
