Hintz played as a first line center in a semifinal game against Tappara. He has been effective in postseason and he leads scoring table recording nine points in twelve games.

Consistency has been issue with Hintz and it is still visible even within a game. He is not a constant threat but he is able to show flashes of great game. The most interesting aspect of his game is definitely his skating. Hintz has really good first steps and especially his top speed is impressive. Thanks to his skating and big body it is really hard to get the puck away from him he is carrying the puck and gets his wheels going.

Hintz is a big player but he could use his body more at the both ends of ice. Especially at the own end he could be more effective with better positioning and more physical presence. Hintz isn’t the craftiest player on ice either and he has only average hands. However off the puck he does constantly smart decisions and he sees goal-scoring opportunities relatively often.

With his skill set he probably won’t become playmaking center in NHL but his game should translate well to smaller rink. He has ability to become decent two-way center but I could see him becoming better player as a winger.
