Maurola scored a hat-trick and added two assists in JYP’s dominant 11-3 win over KooKoo in the U16 league. He was playing right wing on the top line and on both special units.

Maurola’s biggest calling card is his skating. His first few steps and top speed are both very good. He got multiple breakaway chances by blowing through defenders with speed. Maurola has a powerful wrist shot and good hands, which – combined with his speed – make him especially dangerous attacking off the rush. His defensive game wasn’t tested much in this game, but I’ve seen him kill penalties effectively last season.

If he keeps putting on dominant performances like this one, I wouldn’t be surprised if Maurola was promoted to JYP’s U18 team sooner rather than later.
