Even though Miettinen was one of the youngest players on the ice, he was one of the most noticeable. He was the number one center for Kiekko-Espoo U20 and was used a lot on both special teams. He played a total of 22:55 and had two assists in the game.

Miettinen is only 16 years old but he plays a very smart and responsible two-way game. He played on the top power play unit where he was mostly working from behind the goal line but occasionally moved around from there as well. He was also on the top penalty kill unit, and he was trusted to protect the lead late in the game after KalPa pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. Miettinen had a great block in that situation, showing he’s not afraid to put his body on the line when needed.

Miettinen’s defensive understanding and effort is very impressive considering his age. But he also used his smarts in the offensive end. For his first assist, he sneaked behind the opposing defenders and tried to redirect a pass to the net but couldn’t hit the puck cleanly. Nonetheless, it created a rebound which was batted in. For his second assist, he made a great pass on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity. The shot from his pass didn’t go in directly but the rebound did.

Miettinen is also a very good skater for this level. His edge work is very good, and he has pretty good top speed as well. All in all, he looks ready to play a major role for Kiekko-Espoo U20 despite being only 16 years of age.
