Ahonen has played the majority of the season with Tappara’s U18 team, but he was back with the U16 team for the playoffs and added three assists in the victorious bronze medal game.

Already measured at 6 foot 1 and 176 pounds (and those measures are likely conservative), Ahonen is a big-bodied forward with tools to become effective power winger. His first few steps are not the best, but his top speed was very good. Ahonen had a few very dominant shifts, where he was able to use his size and puck skills to his advantage amongst the boards. He also flashed very good vision and created multiple high danger scoring chances for his teammates. Ahonen was also running the top power play unit from the right half wall and regularly killed penalties.
