Munkki was playing on TPS’ fourth line in their first practice game of the season against Ilves. He was used once on the power play, where he managed to set up his linemate for a great chance with a beautiful cross-ice feed.

In a limited role, Munkki managed to look quite good. He was playing a lot without the puck but utilized solid skating mechanics to create pressure on the forecheck and cause dump-outs and turnovers. When he had the puck, Munkki made decent decisions and flashed good vision from time to time. It felt like he could have done more in a bigger role. Physically, he managed to hold his own despite not being very bulky.

Munkki was TPS’ top scorer last season at the U18 level, and he looks poised to have an effect at the U20 level this upcoming season.
